We are looking for an outstanding, internationally recognized researcher with excellent teaching skills.
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Ilmenau University of Technology conducts research in the fields of information technology, micro- and nanoelectronics, electrical energy and control technology, materials technology and, since the early 2000s, media technology. In teaching, the faculty is responsible for the Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Media Technology and Media Engineering as well as Materials Science and makes numerous contributions to the courses offered by other faculties.
For the professorship "Data-driven Acoustics and Audio Technology" to be filled, proven experience in research and teaching in the field of data analysis and processing with a focus on acoustic signals, audio and media technology is expected. In particular, the professorship requires expertise in the application and/or development of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods, as well as in the collection of data for the training and validation of such methods. The research focus may include data analysis of audio and multimodal data, e.g. including visual data, psychoacoustics or perception research, in each case using methods of digital signal processing and machine learning. Research with relation to "eXtended Reality" (XR) or "Mixed Reality" (MR) as well as signal processing of spatial sound fields for sound field analysis and synthesis are also welcome.
The professorship at Ilmenau University of Technology is intended to continue and strengthen the close and successful collaboration between the Institute of Media Technology (IMT) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology (IDMT) in research and teaching. Ilmenau University of Technology and the Fraunhofer IDMT have been cooperating in the field of digital media technology and its applications since the Fraunhofer IDMT was founded in 2004. To this end, it is planned to fill this professorship with a leading position at the Fraunhofer IDMT (e.g. head of a scientific department or group).
