Stylianos (Stelios) D. Asimonis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Patras, Greece. From 2019 to 2024, he held the position of Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) at the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science at Queen’s University Belfast, UK.
Dr. Asimonis received both his Diploma (five-year program) and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece. His professional experience includes roles such as Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Macedonia, Greece, and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Technical University of Crete, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) at Queen's University Belfast.
He has an extensive publication record in the fields of electromagnetics and RF engineering. His primary research interests include electromagnetic periodic structures, RF energy harvesting, and antennas. Dr. Asimonis was honored with the Post-Doctoral Scholarship for Excellence by the Research Committee of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) at Queen’s University Belfast in 2012 and 2016, respectively.
He received distinguished paper awards at prominent events such as Metamaterials 2013, the 2014 IEEE RFID-TA, and the 2015 5th COST IC1301 Workshop. He serves as an Editor for Nature Scientific Reports and the MDPI Journal of Low Power Electronics and Applications. From 2019 to 2021, he acted as a Guest Editor for the MDPI Journal of Low Power Electronics and Applications and MDPI Sensors.
