The general framework of the theoretical and practical knowledge for the students at the end of the course will be:

·       In depth study of the architecture philosophy and programming knowledge in assembly language for the microprocessor families CISC INTEL 80x86 and RISC ARM and their comparison

·       In depth study of the microprocessors INTEL 80386, Pentium etc.

·       Study of the ARM Instruction Set and the special characteristics of  its instructions

·       ARM implementation aspects, study of its basic architecture and main units, co-processor interfaces , AMBA architecture etc.

·       Study and design of peripheral circuits/controllers which implemetnt the input/output interfaces in  περιφερειακών κυκλωμάτων που υλοποιούν διεπαφές Εισόδου / Εξόδου INTEL 8086 based microcomputer systems

·       In depth laboratory education in S/W and H/W (assembly programming) for the design and implementation of complex and integrated microcomputer systems

At the end of the course the following skills will be developed for the students:

·       In depth theoretical and practical ability to apply knowledge regarding to architecture philosophy of  CISC-type (INTEL 80x86 family) and RISC-type (ARM) microprocessors

·       In depth theoretical and practical ability to apply knowledge regarding to the programming and interfacing of CISC-type (INTEL 80x85) and RISC-type  ARM () microprocessors with peripheral circuits/controllers for the design of complex and integrated microsystems.

TEACHING METHODS

The manner and methods of teaching are described in detail.

Lectures, seminars, laboratory practice, fieldwork, study and analysis of bibliography, tutorials, placements, clinical practice, art workshop, interactive teaching, educational visits, project, essay writing, artistic creativity, etc.

The student's study hours for each learning activity are given as well as the hours of non-directed study according to the principles of the ECTS

Evaluation:

 (a) Final written exam for the theoretical part of the course, with both theoretical questions and complex problems

(b) Evaluation during each laboratory exercise and final written exam for the laboratory part of the course, with complex problems

Final Mark=0,6x(a) + 0,4x(b)
