Specialization course in Communications that develops the skills of the student in Electromagnetic Wave Propagation, Transmission and Networking of Telecommunication Systems.

Optional Compulsory course in the IT & C sector of the Optional course according to the philosophy of the Sector Telecommunications & Information Technology, of the Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering.

New engineering skills are developed.

The objective of the course is to educate students, who choose communications section, in practical and modern communication issues.

The aim of the course is at the end of the student to know / understand / use

• Wireless Channel

• Wireless links

• Propagation phenomena. Radar applications

·  Multicarrier systems

• Estimation of channel (transfer function and noise levels)

·  Synchronization techniques in  digital communications systems

• Error detection and correction techniques

• Modern Communication Systems such as 4th and 5th generation communications

Face-to-face, Distance learning, etc.

The course consists of 12 laboratory exercises, which are preceded by a lecture in the classroom. The students are divided into groups and teaching/laboratory exercises follow a parallel schedule

Teaching is delivered through PowerPoint or using chalk (or "marker") on a table.

Students are required to deliver laboratory reports.

Students are invited to perform projects at home.

TEACHING METHODS

The manner and methods of teaching are described in detail.

Lectures, seminars, laboratory practice, fieldwork, study and analysis of bibliography, tutorials, placements, clinical practice, art workshop, interactive teaching, educational visits, project, essay writing, artistic creativity, etc.

The student's study hours for each learning activity are given as well as the hours of non-directed study according to the principles of the ECTS

The final grade is based on the formula:

Final Grade = 60% Written Final Examination + 40% Laboratory Exercises. Failure to perform more than one laboratory exercise results in failure in the class
