The objective of the course is to introduce the students in a solid background of theory of digital logic

 After successful completion of the course, students should have acquired knowledge of designing and optimizing digital circuits, especially in the subfield of combinatorial logic.

·        Binary Systems: Digital Systems, Binary Numbers, Conversion of Numbers in Formats with Other Base, Supplements, Binary Numbers with Proof, Binary Codes, Binary Storage and Registers.

·        Binary Logic. Boolean Algebra and Logic Gates: Basic Definitions, Boolean Algebra Definition, Basic Boolean Algebra Theorems and Truths.

·        Logic Functions, Normal and Standard Formats, Other Logical Operations, Digital Logic Gates.

·        Gate Level Minimization: Map Method, Summation Product Simplification, Invalid Value Conditions, Gate Implementation using NAND-NOR, Other Two-Step Implementations, Exclusive-OR Function. Hardware Description Language, (HDL).

·        Combinatorial Circuits, Analysis Process, Design Process, Binary Adder, Decimal Adder, Binary Multiplier, Comparator, Decoders, Encoders, Multiplexers. HDL for Combinatorial Circuits.
