George Thomopoulos was born in Patras, Greece, in December 1969. He completed his primary education (elementary school, junior high school, and high school) in Patras. He holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology (1993) from the Polytechnic School of the University of Patras. Since 2017, he has held a Master's Degree in Energy with a specialization in "Distributed Green Electricity and Advanced Network Infrastructures for Management and Economy". Since July 2023, he has been a PhD candidate in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology with a dissertation entitled "Intelligent Framework and Multi-Agent Method for Phishing Prevention in Information Systems".

From 1993 to 2006, he worked in companies dealing with information system management, in VET and IEK institutions dealing with training in information systems and ICT. From 2004 to 2014, he worked at the Hellenic Open University as a network and organization officer and as a researcher and supervisor of IT projects. Since 2006, he has been working at the University of Patras as the technical manager of the Information Technology and Communication Systems Center (KYPE) of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology of the University of Patras. Since 2014, he has been the Information Security Officer of the University of Patras and since 2017, he has been the Energy Officer of the University of Patras. In May 2018, he became a Technical Stuff (ETEP) at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology and in May 2020 he was transferred to the Department's Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP).
